As with merchandise when establishments run out of any product, many at times , offer a customer a raincheck to return later , to pick up a product when new stock has arrived.
However, if one faces an unexpected incident that could threaten their life, they should know there is no raincheck for death. Death has it’s own timetable , and unpredictable. To not be prepared with written directions for the family is one of mankinds greatest faults, and to argue with fate is even worse.
The telephone call from a very distraught young lady was pleading to find out what she might do to get her husband to sit down to quickly get their family Will drafted. She went on to relate that her sister’s 29 yr old husband had just been killed in a horrific truck accident the week before. He had a wife and two young children, had just bought a new home and furniture. But the family had no Will. An older brother was assisting the sister and family in trying to sort out affairs, but hurriedly advised this sister to immediately get to a lawyer to get a Will prepraed.
This corner advised her to contact a financial planner or a notary or a lawyer to get their quick free consultation for direction, and also check on-line with her computer for Wills, Will Planning, or World Will Registries, who also help direct people to get other information.
We also advised this 32 yr old with three young children to try to arrange the first meeting in their own home, because she said her husband did not believe he needed a Will as yet as a 34 yr old.
No one should believe this to be an isolated case.
Unfortunately, this scene happens all too frequently.
