Remember that Promise_ _ _ “ I DO “ to love , honor and I’m supposed to obey ?
In this high-speed cyberspace world, daily changes are rampant all around us . The older one gets, the less change they want to encounter. Their motto is still “ Remember the good ol days”
Yet, there is nothing more constant than change.
We changed as we grew up influenced by our parents guidance and outside world surroundings. We changed in our first years of school, in junior high school, in high school, college, university, When we left home ( the first time ), when we got our first job. Our wants and desires changed thru each of these cycles .
Our attitude changed with family, relatives, friends, occupations and entertainment as we matured !
Then major changes started to occur. You met that special person. You started thinking about a future together, getting engaged, planning a wedding with all the minute details and then the biggest change in your life, sharing and living with another person for all time where decisions are made as a unit.
But wait _ _ _ you both forgot about another very important aspect of your planning. YES, tha planning of drafting a FAMILY WILL !
At this young age, you might wonder ? Very much so. Both have brought together some assets and will now start to accumalate much more. Since both may still work, there are necessary precautions to be planned for.
A Living Will and a Family Will , will be high on the agenda of any smart young couple as they begin on that lifelong journey. If they had attended any pre-marital classes prior to their wedding, along with the sessions on mortgages, insurances, in-laws, sexuality, attitude adjustments etc, Ther should have been a session on the vital importance of living wills and family wills.
But at the moment TIME is on your side. However don’t waste it. Accept that this is a vital exercise to be completed now, and that you both may alter more than one Will in your journey. Codicil’s will be needed to be added as each of your family grows or if divorces attack along the way. Perhaps even newly drafted Wills. Those people with extended families, second or third spouses or very large families could easily re-draft 6 to 8 Wills in their lifetime.
Only look upon drafting a Will as a valueable document to be protected along with your other important documents. Marriage license, Insurance policies, Mortagage papers, Birth Certificates of parents and children, and Passports. to name a few.
Remember young uns, the ball is in your hands. Don’t drop it for your own sake, BUT THE LAST IMPORTANT THING TO DO , IS TO REGISTER WHERE YOU WILL KEEP THIS WILL SO IT CAN BE FOUND EASILY. Look on-line for a good Will Location Registry and register the location of your Will.
